This blog chronicles the lives of the Caffee Clan: Brian, Kelly, Josh, Jason, Lauren and Katelyn as we navigate life as a large, loud, military family that lives on the verge of complete chaos! I'm Kelly, AKA "Mom", "Mama", "Babe" or the "1SG's wife", I am 37, a stay-at-home-mom that dreams of someday working in the marketing field. I love photography, scrap booking, healthy eating and cooking, my family, music and dancing!! I have a fetish for gross medical stuff, like unusual diseases or strange growths, and sometimes I wish I was a midwife. As you read, you might notice that I have an slight obsession with cleaning and germ-avoidance, but do not fret, I am aware and I am working on it. And I love making lists! I have lots of opinions about lots of things and this is what is represented here! I'm not always right (wait, I'm NOT??) but I always have something to say!!!

Awesome Post #6 - I AM Katy Perry.

I AM.

I was so in character that I tricked my daughter.
I went out the door and she froze.
Mouth ajar.

We'd stared at each other in awe of the moment.
And then I spoke.
And she was really mad...
that it was just me.

Sorry Lu.

And because you crazies were so patient, I'll give you TWO
pictures.

Your welcome.

I can't really remember the significance of the
TRUCK,
just go with it and try not to
stare, stalkers!
You know who you are.....

"Baby, you're a firework..."

A few goals while we wait...

If you know me (at all), you now I'm kinda
hyper....*sigh*
And I'm usually busy, busy, busy
(Denise, I can hear you...shhhhhush!)
She calls me a whirling dervish.
She had the unfortunate experience of living with me
years ago, while hubs was away at a school for 4 months.
And our house was on the market.
And we were PCSing to
Illi-where??? IL.
And I didn't want to go.
She is kind enough NOT to share the stories.

Ahem.
So I've started a list of goals for myself
while here on the Isle.
Wish me luck and perseverance
and focus!!!

1. I want to train to run at least a 5K! I recently found out that all my mobility issues were caused by a medication I was taking FOR them. Glad it's all over (it's a long, boring story, so I'll spare you), but I have some work to do to get where I want to be!! C25K! Any advice!!

2. That said, it's a vain-ish goal, but I want to fearlessly wear a bikini (at least the top) without feeling embarrassed. I probably could now, but really....nobody wants that.

3. I want to grow out my hair. I've said this before, but I can't do it. I get scissor-happy and start chopping. I met a guy that seems willing to help me through the transition phase, so we'll see. I need to learn to stop playing with sharp, chopping things and leave my hair to the pros!!

4. I'd love to participate (as a leader, in some fashion) in my sons' Youth program at the church we've found here. I normally shy away from Youth - they're scary - but this has been on my heart for awhile, so I'm stepping out!!

5. I want to learn to cook gourmet food - the techniques, ingredients and the parings - it seems so fun! Everything I currently know is self-taught and that's nothing to brag about! I have a few things I can cook really well. It's time to learn more!!

*Is five enough? I think so! Hopefully, I'll accomplish at least two!*

What are your summer goals?

Places I have lived....

I am being a copycat and making this list!
Peeps, meet Megan Megan Dub-Yah
a super sweet, sassy fellow blogger from WA!
Go over and check out her blog!!!

Megan Dub-Yuh

Isn't she cute?

On with it!
Places I have lived in my (short) life:
1. Born and raised in Rochester, New York. That's upstate, NOT the city.
2. San Antonio, TX
3. Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Can I count this? I was only there for basic training...
4. Groton, CT
5. Seoul, Korea
6. Fort Hood, TX
7. Kaiserslautern, Germany
8. Yelm, WA
9. Mahomet, IL
10. Fort Campbell, KY
11. Santa Rita, Guam

Gah! I hate when my lists are uneven - I am slightly OCD.
So lots of places, people, cultures and trips mixed in there.
I can't say I love every.single.minute of it, but my life is good!!!
*smile*

Creatures of Guam

There are many creepy crawlies in Guam.
People, I do not enjoy creepy crawlies.
My kids do, though, and they
think it's super funny do say
"LOOK, MOM"
and open their little hands
at me.

This generally doesn't bode well
for the crawly.

Hello, my tail-less friend....

Hermit crab - they are HUGE here!

The frogs are HUGE, too! Sometimes they "bake" on the roads.....

Venomous.

Coconut crab.....ew, ew, ew.

All of these things were found right in our yard. I love it. *gag*

Help! again.... ;)

Hi guys!! Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement!! I will continue the Awesome Series asap, but I need a name for my foodie blog! Any ideas?????

Help!

My brain is on overdrive (shut it, Denise!) - this is kind of a normal state for me, but I have a few things I'm pondering and I'd love some non-Type A opinions. That doesn't mean you can't comment if you ARE Type A, it just means I need some calming presences. And if you are Type A, you're anything but calming. Sorry, but it's true!

1. Should I continue the Awesome Series? The pics are funny to me, but are they to YOU?

2. I'm thinking of switching to Wordpress. Fellow bloggers? Opinions?

3. I'm thinking about starting a new blog all about food. I love food. Cooking it, eating it, trying new stuff. Is that interesting to anybody but me? I will preface it by stating that I want to know about your loves, too! So in my mind, it'll be highly interactive.

So that's all for now, please comment and share your ideas! I love comments, by the by, they make me feel loved! *swoon*

New house....

I just wanted to share a picture of the house we'll be in for the next 3 years....

We move in on Katie's birthday - it's the first (and only)
time I can say that one of my offspring is getting a HOUSE
for their birthdays! *wink*
After several hours of sleep,
I am no longer the grouchy girl from my previous
post! Yay!!
I'm decidedly un-sick of my family, too!
I'm just really ready to begin our adventures here.
Scuba diving is on the menu!

Guam - now what????

Ok, so we are here and I am amazed by the beauty surrounding me - I don't ever want to "get used to" it and not see it anymore. Does that make sense? Everything is just lush and green and growing and blooming - so alive....

And then there is me. I'm getting the post-excitement-reality of a PCS- we're here, now what?-blues. I'm usually a make the best of it girl, but I always have this period of discontent after we land. I want to start "life" but everything is in a state of suspension and waiting. Waiting for housing, waiting for a vehicle, waiting, waiting, waiting. I hate waiting. I am sooooo impatient. And, this is terrible to say, I know, you can yell at me later, but I am sooooo sick of my family. I need a break from every single one of them!!! Five weeks of "togetherness" has left me wanting some alone time. I know, I know.....please don't tell me how I would feel differently if...

I'm just lamenting. This too will pass. And I'll be happily decorating my new home and exploring markets and planting flowers and signing children up for activities. It's just how I'm feeling today.

It's my blog and I'll cry if I want to. You would cry too if it happened to you. Da da da dadadaaaaah.

Oh, geesh......

Hawaii - Picture heavy and kind of long... :)

Hello from Hawaii! We are having sooooo much fun and think that we may decide to live here forever! It is amazingly beautiful - I just keep saying that over and over - I can't get over how blue the water and sky look. And everything is so lush and green! The smells are incredible; all salty and oceany - I am in love! I have missed the sunsets thus far, exhaustion from traveling takes over and I have been falling asleep way before they happen, been I am determined to see one!

I wanted to share a run-down of our trip so far -

We got in way later than we expected on Friday, so we went to bed.
Boo.
But on Saturday, we drove along the North Shore and saw some really beautiful sights.
The weather was off and on rainy, but it didn't stop us from jumping in!

On Saturday night, we went to a Luau! It was FABULOUS!
We danced.
We sang.
We ate.
And best of all, we got to spend time with Evan and Melanie!!

On Sunday, we visited Pearl Harbor.
I cried, it was so somber and sad,
but also inspiring and a testimony to human perseverance.

OK! I'm not done yet, but the kids are acting like
crazy heads and I should probably stop ignoring the and
act like a parent. Act like a parent actually means yell at them...

Anyway, I'll get more posted and, wait...
restart the Awesome Series!
Ok, you can breathe now!! :)
